Interfaces

An important goal for the Center for Interface Science: Solar Electric Materials (CISSEM) is to create a robust and responsive center as a valuable educational, scientific, and technology resource in emerging thin-film solar energy conversion technologies.  CISSEM is organized by our Director and Associate Directors:

  • To facilitate highly visible and wide-spread dissemination of the results of our interfacial research to communities interested in interface science and emerging solar electric energy conversion technologies;
  • To support the exchange of students and postdoctoral research associates (postdocs) between research groups at The University of Arizona, Georgia Tech, NREL, Princeton University, and the University of Washington, as Face-to-face interaction is an integral part of the culture of CISSEM for enhanced training and scientific cross-fertilization; and
  • To enable frequent communication between our center’s management and individual research groups to ensure that each group is integrated into the scientific and educational missions of our Energy Frontier Research Center.

CISSEM welcomes opportunities to interact or collaborate with the public, the scientific community, and industry.  We can be contacted by email at efrc@cbc.arizona.edu. Our EFRC’s research is published in peer-reviewed journals and presented frequently at scientific conferences and symposium.  CISSEM students and postdocs experience an outstanding training opportunity by engaging the array of research facilities and expertise at CISSEM’s universities and NREL.
